报告摘要:

Crawfish are freshwater lobster-like crustaceans, found in many warm regions. Their digestive fluid contains a very unique metallo-endopeptidase, astacin, not found in the digestive systems of other species to date. The astacin peptidase family is comprised many analogous proteins of diverse functions, including fish hatching enzyme, sea urchin developing BP10 protease, hydra regeneration enzyme, and bone morphogenetic protease in developmental biology, and a microbial protease as a virulence factor. 

The active center of astacin protease family is collagenase like, but with a coordinated tyrosine only unique to this family. Thus, the hydrolytic mechanism must be very unique among hydrolases. Whether or not and how the unique mechanism found its way in developmental biology is an interesting story to be revealed. How broad this protease family distribute in the living systems awaits future discoveries. From crayfish, to fish hatching, sea urchin development, and hydra regeneration, and to developmental biology and microbiology, the rivers and oceans provide endless resources.

报告人简介:

明立君Li-June Ming,美国南佛罗里达大学教授(USF,1991至今),1981年获得台湾清华大学无机化学硕士学位,1988年在加利福尼亚大学洛杉矶分校(UCLA)获得无机生化核磁博士,然后在明尼苏达大学做博士后工作。明教授是国际知名的生物化学家和核磁技术专家,从事无机生化和金属药物及其生物性能研究,研究主要集中于核磁共振技术(NMR)和电子顺磁共振(EPR)以及动力学应用,先后在JACS等学术期刊发表论文及专著80余篇。同时,明教授也是上海工程技术大学特聘的海外名师。
